Refresher training

volunteers at refresher trainingIt was really encouraging to see 71 volunteers from ten states come to Jos last month for refresher training. Some of the volunteers had just joined, others had been with us for years. One woman we invited first worked with us ten years ago, but had since become inactive.

For some of these volunteers it was their first exposure to our emphasis on social righteousness. They were challenged to live it and give it, to first be committed themselves to living it out and then to spread the message to their churches.

“I am challenged to die to self in order to make heaven and that as a volunteer with Grace & Light, social righteousness should be evident in my life so as to be a better representative of God through Grace & Light.” Enoch Nuhu Waziri – Gombe team.

Training included a review of Grace & Light’s vision and mission, spiritual talks and a review of the current state of HIV in Nigeria. There were particular challenges to work with others to do group mobilisation and to encourage inactive volunteers to start working again.

“Grace and Light should always remind volunteers of the priceless opportunity that the ministry offers them to gather treasures for themselves in heaven which is more than any monetary incentives they could ever enjoy.” Ibrahim Salama – Kaduna Team
