Church visits in March

May 2013

During April our Zing and Jos volunteer teams visited six churches in Nigeria, testing 245 people of whom just five are HIV positive. Almost 95 per cent agreed to be open about their status and 29 per cent have joined life sharing groups, creating 14 new groups in Plateau State and Taraba State.

One particular church in Miango, Plateau State, we have visited more than 20 times to share the gospel. Most of the congregation have been tested and are open and supportive of each other.

“Because we have already shared the gospel with them before people find out their HIV status, there are no dramatic reactions from those who test positive,” said international coordinator Tassie Ghata. “Already two of those tested have begun taking retroviral drugs.”
