Church visits during August

September 2013

Volunteer teams are finding churches continuing to be open to HIV/AIDS testing and life sharing groups, with the numbers testing positive continuing to fall.

During August volunteers from Jos, Ankpa, Gombe, Hong, Yola, Forfure and Bassa visited 13 churches and tested 1,029 people.

Just one person was HIV positive and 89 per cent chose to become Grace & Light members and join a life sharing group.

The Bassa team also provided HIV counselling and testing at a churches conference in Kogi state, with 293 people choosing to be tested.

Three were HIV positive and 168 chose to join a new life sharing group in their church.

Additionally, during testing at the conference and in the churches, 134 people gave their lives to Christ and 390 rededicated their lives to him.

Grace & Light International Coordinator Tassie Ghata said “We’re very happy with the drop in HIV positive people and hoping this reflects a drop in new infections in Nigeria.”

Churches visited were COCIN LCC Duhur, Reform Church Etutu, ECWA Gombe, COCIN Dikibin, COCIN Per Duwong, COCIN Funkipang, COCIN Nting, LCCN Fachi Hong, ECWA Yola, LCCN Gurin Fofure, Unity Baptist Yola, Reformed Church Tutu and Ankpa.
